Discover how Moonrakers Hematite Hazard Dice add weight and flair to your game, plus practical decision rules to decide if they're right for your table.
Quick answer
If you want your hazard rolls to feel more substantial and visually striking, Moonrakers Hematite Hazard Dice are a solid upgrade—just be ready for their weight and potential table wear.
Why hematite dice stand out
Hematite is a dense gemstone, so these dice have real heft compared to standard plastic dice. That weight makes every hazard roll feel more deliberate and adds a premium touch to your Moonrakers sessions.
The set includes four dice in a felt bag, which keeps them protected when not in use and makes them easy to store or travel with.
The trade-off: table damage risk
The catalog warns that these dice could damage tables. Because hematite is hard and heavy, rolling directly on a wooden or glass surface can leave marks or dents.
If you play on a bare table, consider using a dice tray or a playmat to protect your surface. This is a practical consideration, not a flaw—just part of owning premium dice.
Decision rules for hematite hazard dice
- If you want premium feel: Choose these dice if you value weight and gemstone aesthetics over standard plastic dice. The heft enhances the tactile experience.
- If you play on delicate surfaces: Only buy if you're willing to use a dice tray or playmat. Otherwise, the risk of table damage may outweigh the upgrade. Pair with a protective surface.
- If you're on a budget: Consider standard dice or other upgrades if the price feels high. Hematite dice are a premium option, not a necessity for gameplay.
