The way scoring rules change based on what players choose caught me off guard in the best way. We played with five people and every round felt different because someone kept shifting the tactics. Took us a bit to grasp the three-age structure, but once it clicked nobody wanted to stop.
Three ages in and our group still hadn't settled into the same strategy twice, which is exactly what I wanted from a game night. The simultaneous turns keep everyone engaged instead of waiting around for their next move.
