Trade tensions have reached the stars—each ship upgrade now comes with a cost paid in resource cubes to the UA. Players may recover these taxed resources, but only by sacrificing hard-earned Prestige. What’s power without a little pain?
Sacrificing Prestige to claw back taxed resource cubes sounds brutal on paper, but it makes every ship upgrade a genuine dilemma instead of an auto-buy. Our group argued for ten minutes over one payment, which never happened with the base game.
The new taxed-resource rule forces you to actually think before upgrading a ship, and choosing whether to burn Prestige to get those cubes back is genuinely agonizing in the best way. It plugged into our existing games without any rules headaches too.
Didn't expect a tiny expansion to change how I play so much. Choosing between paying resource cubes for ship upgrades or giving up Prestige for the taxed resources makes every turn feel like a real tradeoff. My group argued over it for twenty minutes straight.
