Nine demigods and everyone quietly scheming against each other, that's what sold me. The positional play keeps it from turning into pure luck, and the banter around the table got loud fast. Played three rounds back to back and nobody wanted to stop.
The secret voting mechanic had our whole table second-guessing each other within two rounds, and the positional play keeps it from being pure bluffing. Nine demigods means every game plays out differently, which is rare for a hidden-role game.
I've never played anything where lying to my friends felt this strategic. The positional play around the nine demigods sneaks up on you, and by round three everyone's second-guessing every vote. Easy to teach too, we had a full table going within ten minutes.
